
Rumman Alishah Syed, M.D., is a board-certified cardiologist with advanced fellowship training in interventional and structural cardiology. Dr. Syed is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care, combining evidence-based medical therapy with advanced catheter-based approaches and thoughtful, individualized treatment.
Dr. Syed completed his advanced training in Interventional Cardiology and Structural Cardiology at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire. Prior to his subspecialty training, he completed his fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at University Hospital of Brooklyn/SUNY Downstate. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He earned his medical degree from Dow International Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan.
With a strong foundation in both clinical cardiology and advanced intervention, Dr. Syed has developed a particular interest in the rapidly evolving field of structural and interventional cardiovascular medicine. His training has provided him with experience caring for patients with complex cardiovascular disease while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to determine the most appropriate treatment strategy for each individual patient.
Dr. Syed also maintains a strong commitment to academic medicine and evidence-based cardiovascular care. He has authored and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed publications involving complex cardiovascular conditions, including coronary artery fistula, coronary artery aneurysm, myopericarditis, cardiac tamponade, and anomalous coronary anatomy. Beyond clinical medicine and research, Dr. Syed has demonstrated a longstanding interest in healthcare innovation and quality improvement. During his residency and Chief Resident leadership roles, he participated in numerous hospital-wide initiatives focused on improving patient safety, clinical efficiency, communication, documentation, and overall care delivery.
Dr. Syed has also been actively involved in medical education and institutional leadership. His experience includes curriculum development, resident education and scheduling, implementation of clinical systems, Epic optimization, and participation in the merger of internal medicine residency programs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he worked alongside hospital leadership to advocate for and support resident physicians and frontline trainees.
Dr. Syed believes excellent cardiovascular care extends beyond treating a diagnosis. He strives to understand each patient’s individual goals, concerns, and circumstances while providing care that is both medically sophisticated and compassionate.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Syed enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter. He also enjoys playing guitar and piano, spending time in nature, and traveling with his family to explore new and less-traveled destinations.
